Director of Cinematography Lighting - Adolph Lusinsky, CG Environment Supervisor - Larry Wu, Head of Effects - Michael Kaschalk, Lighting Supervisor - Jennifer Yu, and Production Supervisor - Mike Huang, share the craft, innovation and collaborative process behind creating the diverse worlds of the Academy Award®-winning animated feature Big Hero 6. Ranging from the vast, densely populated city of San Fransokyo to a super high-tech science lab — the team will share their approach to solving these creative and technical challenges and how it all came together to produce a vibrant, believable world. Seating is first-come, first-served, so please arrive early for the best seats!

Michael KaschalkHead of Effects at Walt Disney Animation Studios
Michael Kaschalk, Head of Effects, Walt Disney Animation Studios, leads a team of talented artists as they determine the best way to tell the Directors' story through the power of visual effects. Through collaboration with other show leadership, Kaschalk and his team enjoy problem-solving and pushing the creative visuals to new heights. Kaschalk recently completed work on Oscar®-winning Big Hero 6, which also earned him 2 VES Awards: Outstanding Created Environment in an Animated Feature Motion Picture and Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Animated Feature Motion Picture. Kaschalk began his career as an effects generalist on various films, television shows and interactive media projects when he fell in love with particle simulations and rendering. He joined Disney Animation in 1997 and served as an Effects Animator on Fantasia 2000. Other credits include:Tarzan, Atlantis, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons,Bolt, Tangled, Tangled Ever After, Paperman, and Wreck-It Ralph. When not working, Kaschalk lives in Hollywood, CA with his Wife, 2 kids and a cat.
Adolph LusinskyDirector of Cinematography Lighting at Walt Disney Animation Studios
Adolph Lusinsky, Director of Cinematography Lighting, Walt Disney Animation Studios, partners with the Directors and Production Designer to establish the lighting direction on animated feature films. Through early collaboration, Lusinsky ensures that the visuals serve the story and supervises the team of artists and technicians in their shared goal to bring the Directors' vision to life. Lusinsky recently served as Director of Cinematography Lighting on the Academy Award®-winning animated feature Big Hero 6. Lusinsky joined Disney Animation in 2003 as a Sequence Lead on Chicken Little. He served as Director of Look and Lighting on several projects including Bolt, Rhino Short,Tick Tock Tale, Prep & Landing, Operation Secret Santa and Wreck-It Ralph. Lusinsky attended California State University Fullerton where he majored in illustration. As a child, he dreamed of being a helicopter pilot with a monkey as a co-pilot but later came to his senses and chose to be an artist. In his spare time, Lusinsky enjoys painting and spending time with his wife, 2 kids, and a french bulldog named Marcello.
Larry WuEnvironment CG Supervisor at Walt Disney Animation Studios
Larry Wu, Environment CG Supervisor, Walt Disney Animation Studios, oversees a team of artists and technicians responsible for the creation of all environment assets. Wu most recently completed work on the Oscar®-winning animated feature Big Hero 6where he and his team collaborated with the art department, shot departments and technology to bring the diverse world into 3D. Wu and his team were recently recognized with the VES Award for Outstanding Model in any Motion Media Project for their work on San Fransokyo in Big Hero 6. Wu began his career at Disney Animation as a look development artist on the feature,Meet the Robinsons; his other credits include Bolt, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and Oscar(r)-winner Frozen. Born in Taiwan, Wu received an undergraduate degree in Molecular & Cell Biology and Fine Art from UC Berkeley. After graduation, Wu attended Art Center College of Design where he completed a second degree in Illustration. Wu resides in Arcadia, California with his wife, three children and a tortoise.
Jennifer YuLighting Supervisor at Walt Disney Animation Studios
Jennifer Yu, Lighting Supervisor, Walt Disney Animation Studios, leads a team of Lighters and helps create the lighting workflow for the department. Yu and her fellow Lighting Supervisors work closely with the Production Designer and the Director of Cinematography, Lighting, to develop the look of the film. Yu began her career at Disney Animation in November 2007 as an Assistant Technical Director on the featureBolt. Yu's other credits includeTangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and Big Hero 6. Her favorite part of the job is working closely with her peers, not only within the lighting department but with other departments as well. A Los Angeles native and Gnomon Alumni, Yu received her BS in Computer Science from UCSB before completing the certificate program at Gnomon. Yu resides in Los Angeles with her maltese, Mr. Snuggles.
