The Making of Troll Bridge: A Discworld Film by Christian Bloch
Join us on Thursday, August 11th, at 7:30 pm, for an evening with Christian Bloch, VFX Supervisor on the independent Discworld fan film, Troll Bridge. This brutally honest behind-the-scenes presentation at the Gnomon Stage will offer a fascinating opportunity to witness the incredible efforts of a global team of volunteers, and discover the many challenges faced along the way. Filmed live action with over 500 visual effect shots, the passionate crew has tackled everything from creating complex CG characters – with even more screen time and emotional variety than Gollum – and talking horse heads, to magical weapon effects, crowd simulations, and the ultimate troll bridge environment itself. The presentation will document the valuable lessons learned, and will also delve into the currently running post-production stages of the project.
If you’re a student, hobbyist or professional interested in working in 3D and visual effects for films, independent filmmaking, or working with artists on a global scale, be sure to RSVP or follow along on Livestream. Christian will be inviting questions from both the stage audience and Livestream viewers (Tweet questions using #gnomon on Twitter). He will also discuss how tools such as Shotgun, MODO, NUKE, PFTrack, Yeti, and Arnold have all been essential in the making of this project.
*Troll Bridge is a fan-film created with the support of the Pratchett Estate.
