Join Gnomon and Industrial Light & Magic’s Sheldon Serrao for a special behind-the-scenes presentation ofTransformers: Age of Extinction. Serrao, the Special Effects Technical Director on Transformers, will cover a variety of disciplines including concept design, previsualization, motion capture, animation, effects, destruction, among others. Not only will audiences experience an in-depth examination of the technical implementation ofTransformers’ effects and destruction sequences, they will get the inside scoop on efficient tips and tricks. The presentation will finish with career advice for students entering the visual effects industry. Seating is first-come, first-served, so please arrive early for the best seats!   Special Guests headshot_sheldon-serrao Sheldon Serrao FX Technical Director at Industrial Light & MagicSheldon Serrao has been working in the visual effects industry for the past six years. He started as an intern at Pixar and Disney and is currently working at Industrial Light and Magic as an FX technical director. His past experiences also include working at PDI/Dreamworks, Weta and Sony as an FX technical director.Sheldon has worked in both animated and live action feature productions including Madagascar 2, How to Train your Dragon, Megamind, The Adventures of Tin Tin, The Avengers and recently Pacific Rim, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Sheldon has a strong programming background and is fluent in C++ and Python. He also knows various 3D applications including Maya and Houdini. Given these strong fundamentals, Sheldon plays a vital role as an FX TD in delivering effects elements including fire, smoke, and explosions to supplement background plates, be them live action or completely 3D. Sheldon also has experience in running destruction and rigid body dynamics for shots. Sheldon has been a key contributor to the FX department at ILM by mentoring new hires and by providing educational media covering various FX/destruction topics. He is also involved in writing and developing new tools and scripts that help fellow FX TDs be productive in their work.
