The Art of Stylized Characters with Pedro Conti & Victor Hugo

Join us on Saturday, October 15th, at 12 pm (PDT) for an afternoon with Moana contributing artists,Pedro Conti and Victor Hugo. Both born and raised in Brazil, the talented pair have worked in freelance roles for international clients, at boutique studios, and most recently at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Pedro and Victor were part of the team of passionate artists at TechnoImage in Brazil before moving to Los Angeles in January 2016 to work on Disney’s latest animated adventure, which hits theaters on November 23. Their talks will offer an insight into their career highlights and curveballs, discussing the differences between working in small and large studios, as freelancers, and even running a company. They will also share some of the key examples from their incredible portfolios, giving a look at their workflow and revealing the tools and techniques that helped them craft bodies of work that attracted the attention of Disney recruiters.

Whether you're a professional or aspiring artist, student, or a fan of stylized 3D illustrations, be sure toRSVP or follow along on Livestream. Victor Hugo first tried 3ds Max when he was 13 — and hated it. Rather than planning an art career, his plan was to become a history teacher. At 19, he needed money to pay for college, so he took a job at an arch viz studio in Brazil. He learned how to model on-the-fly, and eventually started to enjoy what he was doing. Eleven years later — and having just wrapped on Moana at Walt Disney Animation Studios — he’s an award-winning artist with one of the 3D community’s most recognizable portfolios of stylized 3D illustrations.
