Star Wars Stories: An Evening with ILM

Star Wars Stories: An Evening with ILM

If you love Star Wars and dream of working at ILM, this event is for you. Join us on June 15th to celebrate the art of Star Wars at the Gnomon Stage. From characters and creatures to vehicles and robots, three talented artists from Industrial Light and Magic in San Francisco will share their experiences creating and contributing effects to The Force Awakens and Rogue One movies. Jay Machado (Hard Surface Modeler/Texture Artist), Charmaine Chan (Compositor/Area Tech Lead), and Paul Giacoppo (Digital Creature Model Supervisor) will offer an inspiring evening dedicated to those looking to embark on careers in the film industry, sharing insights into their work, career paths, and generally discussing what it’s like working as an artist at ILM on one of the most beloved franchises in movie history.

Hear from Gnomon Alumnus Jay Machado, one of four artists nominated for a 2017 VES Award for his work on the Star Destroyer in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and meet Charmaine Chan, who has been working at ILM for over ten years in the Compositing department. Plus, learn from Paul Giacoppo who has been creating and supervising digital characters for over 25 animated and live-action films, specializing in creatures and digital humans – including the incredible digital actors in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Paul was also recently nominated for a VES Award for an Outstanding Model in a Photoreal or Animated Project for his work on Rogue One.

RSVP to attend for free; seating is on a first-come-first-served basis, so be sure to arrive in good time to secure your place in line. ILM has reserved the right not to Livestream this event, so don’t miss this opportunity to attend in person at the Gnomon campus in Hollywood. The event will not be recorded.
