From the visionary creative team at Aaron Sims Creative (ASC) comes an exclusive event at Gnomon School of VFX to reveal the key elements of concept design and visual effects from the studio’s innovative “Sketch to Screen” workflow, used on the likes of Stranger Things, Wonder Woman, War for the Planet of the Apes, The Mist, as well as ASC’s very own original I.P. creations.
Join Aaron Sims (ASC Founder and Concept Designer), Michael Pecchia (Executive Producer), and Steffen Reichstadt (Creative Director) at the Gnomon Stage for a step-by-step demonstration of the team’s collaborative process. Learn how designers, animators, compositors, and various other artists work together to bring iconic creatures and worlds to life, from concept to reality. Suitable for artists of all levels and interests, the event will offer techniques, methods, and insider tips from one of the industry's premiere design and visual effects studios.

Founder and Concept Designer, ASC
Aaron Sims, the visual creator behind some of this generation’s most unforgettable cinema creatures, began his career over two decades ago as a special effects makeup artist. His pioneering techniques in the world of visual effects influenced the face of character and creature design in film, television, games, previs, and VFX early on in their application. Aaron Sims Creative was formed to bring together a wide range of the world’s most talented concept and VFX artists. His unparalleled skill and dedication to consistently creating stunning content for all platforms of visual entertainment has made ASC a premiere entertainment studio.
Executive Producer, ASC
Michael Pecchia reunited with Aaron Sims after 14 years since their first collaboration. As Executive Producer at ASC, Michael is a key player in building the ASC brand and visual effects efforts, overseeing all aspects of production from client collaboration to final asset delivery. Michael brings 23 years of experience of global brand building management and visual effects artistry, most recently as Director of Global Development at Prime Focus and as a digital artist on such blockbuster films including Academy Award-winning Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, Emmy Award-winning John Adams, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Frank Herbert's Dune.
Creative Director, ASC
Steffen Reichstadt began his career as a fine arts oil painter and an art gallery producer in Los Angeles, teaming up with Aaron Sims in 2008 as one of the first employees in the pivotal founding of Aaron Sims Creative. Over the years, Steffen has taken on a leadership role overseeing production in both design and visual effects for hundreds of ASC's iconic projects. Now firmly established as the resident Creative Director and one of the company's lead artists, Steffen continues to lead the vision for development and design at ASC and its expanding portfolio across film, TV, digital, and 3D prototyping.
3D Artist, ASC
Erik Keefer gained an interest in visual effects while attending Art Center School of Design. Once he had exhausted all the 3D courses there, he moved to Gnomon School of Visual Effects to further his studies and focus on building a career in digital production. Upon graduating Gnomon, Eric scored a job at Brain Zoo Studios in Los Angeles. He was later snapped up by Aaron Sims Creative – where he has been working as a 3D Artist ever since. Eric Keefer has contributed to many incredible projects at ASC, with one of his favorites being Stranger Things.
Look Dev Artist, ASC
David Olson was born in Florida and studied animation and filmmaking at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He ran away from the cold winters and found his way to Los Angeles, where he enrolled at Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Well-versed in all aspects of VFX but with a focus in texturing and look-development, David began interning at Aaron Sims Creative in early 2017 and from there was hired as part of the team. He’s already contributed to some amazing TV and film projects, such as The Mistand Ready Player One.
