Independence Day: Resurgence – CityEngine Workflow with Matthias Buehler

 

Join us on Saturday, July 30th, at 2:30 PM to discover how CityEngine is being used to create impressive 3D cityscapes in the movies. Matthias Buehler, one of the very rare CityEngine specialists, will take to the Gnomon Stage to discuss the CityEngine-related work on Independence Day: Resurgence. As Environment Developer Lead at Scanline VFX in Vancouver, Matthias was responsible for the implementation of a strong-yet-flexible workflow, for not just Resurgence but also various other upcoming releases. Matthias will share his experiences and some of the technical challenges of the resulting workflows and will also offer a live CityEngine demo. This presentation is for anyone interested in VFX, procedural workflows and technical making-of talks.

 

If you’re a student, hobbyist or professional interested in working in 3D environments and visual effects, do not miss this opportunity to experience the event live at the Gnomon campus. Entry is by RSVP only, and seating is first-come-first-served. The event will also be available on Livestream for those who can’t attend in person*.

Matthias is a CityEngine specialist with a Master’s degree in Architecture plus a strong expertise in photorealistic rendering and technical scripting. After completing his CityEngine work on Independence Day: Resurgence at Scanline VFX in Vancouver, he has since founded his own company, vrbn, which provides expert services in the field of procedural 3D cities.
