Designing Futuristic Vehicles: 3D Concepting with Gurmukh Bhasin

Designing Futuristic Vehicles: 3D Concepting with Gurmukh Bhasin

Thursday, June 20th, 2019, 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

On Thursday, June 20th, join Senior 3D Concept Designer Gurmukh Bhasin for a deep dive into hard surface modeling and 3D concept design workflows.

Discover a step-by-step workflow for creating futuristic vehicles as Gurmukh covers the entire concept design pipeline—from ideation to model creation to rendering—and relates how each step contributes to the storytelling process. Audience members will also learn how to incorporate real-world construction techniques, manufacturing constraints, material properties, and functionality to help ground concept designs in reality and create relatable vehicles and props.

Seating is limited, so be sure to RSVP and arrive in good time to secure a place in line. Attendee check-in will open at approximately 6:30 PM; a valid Eventbrite RSVP will be required to get an event wristband.

Attendees are welcome to join a guided tour of Gnomon before the event. The tour will start at 7pm from the check-in station, and all attendees on the tour will be guaranteed a reserved seat to the event.

If you are unable to make it to campus, you can watch the event live on Gnomon's Twitch channel.

Gnomon School of VFX's full-time programs and 10-week individual courses are designed to develop well-rounded artists that are skilled in the diverse disciplines within 3D production. For those outside of the US, virtual classroom-style online courses are also available.

Senior 3D Concept Designer

Gurmukh Bhasin is an architect-turned-3D-concept-designer. While immersing himself in the professional realm of architecture for many years, Gurmukh discovered that his true passion lied in the concept phase of design. His method and aesthetic are unique in that they draw from his background in architecture and real-world design. Using tools such as Maya, MOI3D, Keyshot, and Photoshop early on in his process, Gurmukh is constantly examining new ways to merge traditional and contemporary design techniques when creating surreal and often un-earthly environments, architecture, vehicles and props.
