Five top talents from the Burbank studio will take the stage to share some of the techniques they use to build convincing stylized video game characters. The panel will focus on the art for the upcoming Ratchet & Clank release, revealing how multiple artists work together to build robust characters that share a consistent style. The panelists will also discuss the technical aspects introduced by environment artists to streamline production, and how this speeds up the process of making not only characters, but also weapons and vehicles. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover the production values and in-house tricks that have helped this independent game developer sell more than 44-million video games worldwide. Gavin Goulden
Lead Character Artist, Insomniac Games
Gavin Goulden is the Lead Character Artist at Insomniac Games. He most recently completed the video game title, Sunset Overdrive. Prior to this, Gavin was the Character Lead on BioShock Infinite, and Character Artist on Dead Rising 2 and The Bigs 2. He’s also contributed to titles such as Dragon Age: Origins, F.E.A.R. 2, Rock Band 2, andDamNation.
Henrique Naspolini
Senior Character Artist, Insomniac Games
Henrique Naspolini is a Brazilian Character Artist with over seven years of experience in the video game industry. He worked on titles including Borderlands 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Spec-Ops: The Line before joining Insomniac Games as a Senior Character Artist to work on Sunset Overdrive. Most recently, he’s been working on Ratchet & Clank for the PS4.
Adalbert Kinsey
Lead Character TD, Insomniac Games
Adalbert Kinsey is the Lead Character TD at Insomniac Games. He joined the studio in 2005 and has completed Sunset Overdrive as well as contributing to many titles under the Insomniac Games banner, such as Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, and Fuse. He has more than 20 years of experience in the video game industry, and has held positions at Method Games, Blue Shift Inc. and Atari Games.
Erin Zaneski
Character Artist, Insomniac Games
Erin Zaneski discovered that a career in character art for video games is the perfect blend to satisfy an interest in both computer science and anatomy. Shortly after graduation in 2013, Erin joined the character team at Insomniac Games where she creates stylized characters for projects as varied as Sunset Overdrive, Ratchet & Clank,and the upcoming VR game, Edge of Nowhere.
Xavier Coelho-Kostolny
Character Artist, Insomniac Games
Xavier Coelho-Kostolny got his start in the industry making weapons for Team Fortress 2at home, in his bedroom. From there, he had the opportunity to work on games such asHeroes of Newerth, Neverwinter, Rust, and the re-mastered PS4 edition of Ratchet and Clank. A recent addition to the team, Xavier has been working full-time at Insomniac Games since late 2015.
