An Evening with David Karlak: The Making of RISE
Join us on Thursday, May 5th, at 7:30 PM, for the making of RISE, the latest short sci-fi film by Filmmaker, Director and Visual Effects Artist, David Karlak. The evening will kick off with a screening of the highly polished short, followed by an insight into David’s creation process, including how he worked with nearly 100 artists from around the world to portray a dystopian future. The five-minute short was first unveiled to the masses in March 2016, painting the vision of a near-future where the arrival of artificial humans resets humanity’s moral compass. Mixing high-end VFX with documentary and news-style footage, the striking film stands as essential viewing for those interested in the evolution of the sci-fi form, and the intersection of technology and entertainment. A labor of love for David, he’s been working on RISE since 2013 as a proof of concept. He comments: “The team’s vision for RISE was to combine the very best new techniques in visual effects and CG while blending them into an incredible live-action sci-fi short. The world we've created and the narrative around it is truly immersive, full of intrigue, and – we hope – uniquely thought-provoking."
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet David Karlak at the Gnomon campus. RSVP for this exclusive event for free. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. The event is open to the public and will also be available on Gnomon’s Livestream channel.
