2D Skills in 3D VFX — Panel Discussion with Riot Games

Join us at Gnomon on Monday, October 12th, for an evening with three of Riot Games’ finest VFX artists. Christina Wun, Jason Keyser, and Jin Yang will offer an insightful discussion about the importance of 2D skills in the creation of world-class visual effects. Christina, Jason, and Jin are all currently working on League of Legends; Christina is a self-taught artist serving as the Community Director of Art; Jason and Jin are both Senior VFX Artists with impressive careers that span games, film, and TV. These three talents will be hitting the Gnomon Stage to share footage of the work that so often goes unseen. If you’re a student, hobbyist, or professional interested in pursuing or developing a career in games, this will prove an inspiring event that will shed light on the roles that contribute to stunning visual effects.

The event is free and open to the public. Entry is by RSVP only, and seating is first come first served.

Christina is a talented, self-taught VFX artist who started out her career at Liquid Entertainment before later moving on to Square Enix. Throughout the last four years, she’s been working at Riot Games on the popular multiplayer League of Legends as Lead VFX Artist. Nowadays, Christina serves as the Community Director of Art for Riot Games.

Jason has worked at several entertainment studios on a variety of projects. Before his role as Senior VFX Artist on League of Legends, he worked as a Senior Flash Artist at Wild Works on the National Geographic game, Animal Jam. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation from Brigham Young University. As a student, he directed the short film, ‘Alight’.

Jin’s career as a VFX artist began with pre-rendered effects in film and television. At present, Jin is a Senior VFX Artist at Riot Games working on League of Legends. Before this, he worked on The Lost Planet 3, the third-person shooter video game developed by Spark Unlimited and published by Capcom for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
